I have seen a lot of Wicked fanart in my time, but this is by far one of the best. In my opinion, it is rather difficult to make Fieryo handsome in his scarecrow form (rather than just looking goofy) but you really nailed it. It is still clear that he is a scarecrow in this picture, but you managed to simultaneously capture his charm that he had when he was human, especially in his facial expression. As for Elphaba, she is just GORGEOUS. In addition to their smooth and natural looking smiles, I like the detail you put in the eyes. Fieryo's charming blue eyes rest on Elphaba, while her beautiful brown eyes are focused slightly upward on the flower he is giving her; a pink flower at that, just like the one she wore in her hair when she was "Galindafied". The background just brings it all together with the soft lighting of the lanterns on the trees and the starry, moonlit sky. Finally, the soft shading you did with this painting truly brings out that feeling of sweet romance. The shading itself is so well done that I can almost feel the soft, warm glow of those lanterns.
I don't even know how you do it! This art is beautiful and original at the same time! I agree with the other critique-er when they said that it's hard to make Fiyero look handsome as a scarecrow. But here, he's perfect! I love your idea, and you don't ever think you're not a good artist. Okay, now I'm just typing because I have nothing else to say other than I rate it 5 stars on everything and I love Wicked too! I still have to type more. Well, let's see... I love the moon and starry background, and the patches on his arms. Good outfits on both of them.
AWWW!!!! How romantically beautiful! Though that does beg the question; where did they go? What land could they go to where a green-skinned woman with magical powers and walking, talking scarecrow who used to be human and may or may not be the father of any children they may or may not have after the events of "As Long As You're Mine" aren't going to cause such a stir that everyone in Oz hears about them?
This is absolutely adorable! I LOVE the colouring, and the techniqie is stunning. It looks like a painting in a childrens books - not one of those cheap ones, but one of those fantastically illustrated books. This is so charming, with their poses, the background that makes it all so much more alive, and the focus of the main character. And DIOS mio, their looks. The way they look at each other; or rather, the way Fiyero looks at Elphaba and the way she looks at the flower. So much tenderness. I've always REALLY loved these two and I found the ending of Wicked to be so stupidly satisfying that I almost can't contain it. And this piece really do them justice! Their designs are excellent, especially Elphabas is done to perfection. She still has that youthful spirited look to her, despite having gone through all that she has.
Oh my. That's fantastic. I think Elphie had it wrong, not only is Fiyero that boy but she clearly is "that girl" and she doesn't need to become popular or defy gravity to prove it. What beautiful linework and soft shading (evokes a fairytale style illustration). I like the body posture too, she is shy but starting to display a confidence inspired by Fiyero's gift. And Fiyero has such a rakish glint in his eye, still ready to go dancing through life! Like the moon in the BG too, seems like cliche oh she's a witch to not have it be a full moon. (I make puns because I don't draw exceptionally well and thus cannot properly critique. But I love this truly!)
This is nothing short of superb. I'm a huge Wicked fan and have seen and looked through a whole hell of a lot of wicked Fan Art, sketches, Paintings etc etc and this is genuinely one, if not THE best I have encountered. I love that its a scene not from the show, but set after, so original and beautifully done. I would love to be able to get some of your work as prints, any plans to hook up with a UK accessible company would be gratefully received !!!! As a side note, I have only just joined DeviantArt after seeing your work, you are very talented !
Hi thanks so much! I'm glad you like it! I actually have some prints of this drawing available. I'd be more than happy to send you one if you are interested. I have them available on Etsy...I'm not sure how much it would cost to ship it to you but if you are willing to pay shipping I'd gladly sell you one.
You know, for some weird reason, the overture from the original Star Trek movie goes well with this picture. Check it out: [link] It perfectly complements the mood between them in... wherever they are now.
